Greetings to all of you! The last quarter has been exciting time for all of us at IIE India, as we hosted a delegation on behalf of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), and released a White Paper sponsored by the U.S Embassy in India, on the Community College Model in India. These have been important efforts towards increasing understanding and exchange of ideas between community college practitioners on both sides, and we hope that this is an important starting point towards contributing to the broader goal of meeting the workforce needs of local communities in our country. American Association of Community Colleges Delegation Visit

The last few months witnessed exciting activity, as the IIE India office got ready to host on behalf of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), 5 representatives from U.S community colleges. From June 17th-25th, 2013, the delegation met with government officials, education administrators, and private sector representatives in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. The goal of the AACC delegation was to develop a better understanding of the Indian higher education sector, the potential for expanding the community college model in India, and to explore possibilities for potential partnerships.  more...

The Maternal Health Young Champions Program  

The Institute of International Education (IIE), in partnership with the Maternal Health Task Force (MHTF) at the Harvard School of Public Health administers and manages Maternal Health Young Champions (MHYC) Program which aims to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity by cultivating a cadre of emerging public health leaders equipped with the skills, vision and long-term commitment to improve maternal health worldwide. more...

The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program

The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program began in 1987 in Mexico and has grown to support outstanding students in higher education in fourteen countries around the world including India, which has the highest number of scholars. Currently, the Program supports students in ten countries. As of 2012, over 2000 grants have been awarded. The Program is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) on behalf of the GE Foundation.  more...

Cargill Global Scholars Program 2012-13 – India Selections

After several months of outreach and submission of applications, as part of the Cargill Global Scholars Program in India, the selection process took place in the last quarter. Out of 91 applications submitted from across the 5 participating colleges in the country, 10 exceptionally bright students got selected as the winners of the Cargill Global Scholars Program. The selected individuals were chosen based on their demonstrated high level of academic performance and leadership potential. more...
