The first quarter of the year has passed by in whirlwind style, with the IIE India team traveling far and wide while accomplishing a great deal over the past several months. Some of IIE India’s activities for this quarter included welcoming delegates from U.S. educational institutions and facilitating meetings with their counterparts here in India, hosting a South Asia regional informational event for educators in Sri Lanka, and holding a leadership workshop for the selected fellows of an international grant program on the sidelines of the Global Maternal Health Conference in Tanzania! International Academic Partnership Program 2013 - India
An integral part of IIE’s 2013 International Academic Partnership Program (IAPP) India, a study tour, which saw the participation of eight representatives from five U.S Universities and Colleges, recently took place. The group, comprised of both academicians and administrators, traveled to India in February 2013 and visited nine diverse higher education institutions and organizations in Chennai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi, in an effort to understand the Indian higher education system and explore possibilities of partnerships with Indian counterparts. more...

Maternal Health Young Champions Program
The Institute of International Education (IIE), in partnership with the Maternal Health Task Force (MHTF) at the Harvard School of Public Health, is pleased to introduce the second cohort of Maternal Health Young Champions (MHYC), who have been selected from the MHTF’s current priority countries: Ethiopia, India, Nigeria and Mexico. The Young Champions come from diverse backgrounds, but all share a commitment to improving maternal health outcomes in their home countries. NYU Abu Dhabi Informational Event for Educators, Colombo, Sri Lanka
IIE India organized the ‘NYU Abu Dhabi Informational Event for Educators’ in Colombo, Sri Lanka on January 26, 2013. Fifteen educators and counselors attended this event from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. It was an interactive event that provided the participants with a special opportunity to learn more about NYU Abu Dhabi and also meet and interact with a representative from the NYU Abu Dhabi’s senior leadership team. more...

 My 2013 IAPP India Study Tour Experience |
This trip was my seventh and shortest trip to India. I have had the good fortune to have been awarded three previous Fulbright Fellowships to India, in 1987, 1992, and 2005, and I traveled on vacation with my family to India on three other trips. After arriving in Chennai late Friday night (Feb 1), I spent the next day sightseeing and visiting Marina Beach, which I had visited so many times before while lecturing at the University of Madras. For me, it is always an intensely personal experience to visit India, and this short trip of only one week with a myriad of meetings was still very meaningful to me. more...
